The Single Wagon Box is offered in oak or black walnut. Oak is approximately 35 lbs. and black walnut approximately 28 lbs. These are designed after the original shipping crates that the Sharps Company of Connecticut used to send their rifles west. Billy Dixon, the famed buffalo hunter, makes reference to storing his rifles in the "wagon box" for safety and ease of accessibility during transport in his wagon between hunts. There is a dust lip (built into lid) to keep the rifle clean and dry, plus a lidded compartment inside for storage. Rifle is supported in a leather-covered cradle front and back with a bracket (now in the lid) for your cleaning rod. Dimensions of the single case are approximately 54" by 6" by 11". The Double Wagon Box, shown below left, is the same except for the width which is 10" and 2 brackets in the lid for your cleaning rod/s. Shown at right is compartment lid off, and below, the feet added to protect Box bottom.

Box holds a 34" long rifle or a scoped rifle. Wagon Box is pretty standard except for the barrel notch. We need a dimension of the barrel up from the butt stock 36" which allows specific fitting of your barrel.

The Double Wagon Box and Single in oak and black walnut shown at page top for your comparison. Again, cleaning rod storage is in the lid now. This modification was made to accommodate scoped rifles without any special fitting. It is in the lid and holds 2 rods in case of different calibers. Hardware available in nickel or brass; nickel shown and availability changes. This Box is double tough and good looking to boot.
